Algeness

Duration15 min Effect12-16 months Sessions1 session(s)

What Is It?

The raw material of Algeness is algae. It is a filler produced from an algae-derived gel, and it dissolves in the body over time. We use it to replace lost volume and to bring facial contours back into definition.

Most common fillers are based on hyaluronic acid, and Algeness contains no hyaluronic acid. This has two practical consequences. The first is that it is plant-derived and vegan. The second is that it has a water-soluble structure. The product information states that it will dissolve even if it is injected into a vessel.

How Is It Done?

In the facial analysis we look at where the volume has been lost, how thick the skin is and where the support points are. We choose the areas that suit the product’s consistency on that basis. After a topical anaesthetic cream we apply it with a cannula or a needle, and the procedure takes about 15 minutes. The reported plan is a single session. We assess the result once the swelling has gone down.

Who Is It For?

It suits patients with facial volume loss who prefer a plant-derived product. The product information also says it is chosen for people with a history of allergy or a sensitivity related to the immune system. We make that assessment ourselves during the examination in every case.

If sagging is advanced, filler alone does not meet the expectation. Pregnancy and breastfeeding, active infection in the area, bleeding disorders and a known sensitivity to the product change the plan.

Results & Duration

You see the volume effect on the day of treatment. The final appearance settles once the swelling has gone down, on average within two weeks. The reported duration is 12-16 months; it varies with the area, the amount applied and your metabolism. The effect is not permanent.

What Is Not Promised

Algeness does not lift the face. It does not tighten sagging skin and does not take the place of surgical options. It has no effect on skin quality, pigmentation or surface problems.

Being plant-derived does not mean an allergic reaction can never happen. As with any injection, the risk here is not zero. We cannot promise a particular volume, appearance or duration.

Key Benefits

  • Natural filler
  • Vegan content
  • Water-soluble structure

“The nice thing about it is that it is vegan, so patients of mine with that kind of reservation can use it with peace of mind. Still, I always choose the product after I have seen the skin structure. Which consistency suits which area is still the first question.”

Frequently Asked Questions

How does it differ from a hyaluronic acid filler?

The raw material is different. Algeness is produced from an algae-derived gel, while most common fillers are based on hyaluronic acid. The consistency, the area treated and the duration also vary because of that.

Can it be dissolved if needed?

Not with an enzyme. The dissolving enzyme we use for hyaluronic acid fillers does not work on this product. According to the product information it has a water-soluble structure, and it dissolves gradually over time.

I am looking for a vegan product — is this suitable?

It may be. Its content is plant-derived, and that is why it is chosen. We assess whether it suits you during the examination, based on the area and what you expect.

How long does it last?

The reported duration is 12-16 months. It varies with the area, the amount and metabolism, and it is not permanent.
