Glutathione

What Is It?

Our bodies make glutathione themselves. It is a molecule that works as an antioxidant inside the cell; it is found in high concentration in the liver and plays a role in the defence against free radicals. Absorption of the forms taken by mouth is limited. That is why we give it intravenously, to bypass the digestive tract and bring it directly into the circulation.

In the clinic we see glutathione as support. We do not position it as a treatment. What decides the picture here is sleep, diet, smoking and alcohol. Glutathione does not make up for what is missing in those habits. The response varies from person to person, so we set expectations carefully from the start.

How Is It Done?

Because this is given through a vein, we do not skip the assessment. We look at your medical history, whether you take any medication regularly and any chronic conditions you may have. If needed, I ask for blood tests.

We prepare the content in an infusion and give it slowly through a vein. A session takes about 30 minutes on average and is done in the clinic under supervision. We usually plan a series of 5-6 sessions; we set the interval and the total number for each person. During the infusion you may feel a mild coolness or pressure at the vein.

Who Is It For?

We consider it for patients who describe a demanding pace and fatigue, and who are looking for general well-being and antioxidant support. Oxidative load is known to be higher in people who smoke or drink, and the subject of support comes up more often with these patients.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding, a history of asthma, kidney and liver disease, uncontrolled chronic illness and known allergy to any of the ingredients change the plan. We go through these one by one at the examination. If you have an ongoing complaint, I would want you to look into its cause first, because a supportive treatment does not take the place of getting a diagnosis.

Process & Recovery

  1. Assessment

We review your medical history and chronic conditions and ask whether you take any medication regularly. If needed, we ask for blood tests. We set the number of sessions and the interval here.

  2. Session day

We prepare the content in an infusion and give it slowly through a vein. The session takes about 30 minutes on average and is done under supervision.

  3. After the session

You go back to your daily life the same day. There may be brief tenderness where we entered the vein. I recommend drinking plenty of water.

  4. Through the series

The sessions continue at the intervals we planned. During this period we also follow your sleep, diet, smoking and alcohol use; we do not assess the support on its own.

  5. End of series

When the series is finished, we go over the change you describe together and talk about whether a repeat is needed.

Results & Duration

The response varies markedly from person to person, and we do not promise a measurable result. The change my patients describe most often is in general well-being and in how tired they feel. That is a subjective observation, and it does not appear to the same degree in everyone.

For the same reason, how long the effect lasts is not fixed; it varies from person to person. We set the repeat interval after the series, based on what you describe and your daily routine. That also depends largely on what you do: how much you sleep, how you eat, how much you smoke and drink.

What Is Not Promised

Glutathione is not a treatment for disease, and it does not replace the medical treatment your doctor has planned. We also do not use it as an alternative to looking into the cause of an ongoing complaint.

We do not give it to lighten skin colour, and we do not promise any result of that kind. It does not cause weight loss and does not secure your immunity. It does not take the place of sleep, diet, or your smoking and alcohol habits. We make no promise of a particular effect, duration or measurable change.

Key Benefits

  • Antioxidant support
  • Detox support
  • General well-being

“Putting a drip into a patient whose sleep is disrupted and who hasn’t given up smoking would only cover up the problem. Support only means something alongside a proper routine. And building that routine is largely your homework.”

Frequently Asked Questions

What is glutathione?

A molecule the body makes itself, which works as an antioxidant inside the cell. When we give it intravenously, it bypasses the digestive tract and reaches the circulation directly.

How is it given?

We prepare it in an infusion and give it slowly through a vein. A session takes about 30 minutes on average and is done in the clinic under supervision.

How many sessions are needed?

Usually a series of 5-6 sessions. We set the interval and the total number for each person.

Does it whiten the skin?

We do not give it for that purpose, and we do not promise such a result. Its place is antioxidant support.

Does it replace medical treatment?

No. It does not count as a treatment for disease and does not take the place of the treatment your doctor has planned.

Who needs particular care?

Pregnancy and breastfeeding, a history of asthma, kidney and liver disease and uncontrolled chronic illness change the plan. We go through these one by one at the examination.

What is felt during the session?

You may feel a mild coolness or pressure at the vein. You go back to your daily life the same day.

How long does it last?

We cannot give a fixed duration; both the response and the duration vary from person to person. We discuss the repeat interval at the end of the series.
